Stretches

The triceps

1.Reach upwards with your right hand 2.Place the right hand behind you, aiming for the point between the shoulder blades
3.Increase this stretch push gently with the left hand, on the right arm muscle 4.Further increase the stretch by taking the left hand behind you and clasping the right hand
5.Further increase the stretch by taking the left hand behind you and clasping the right hand

Stretching the triceps

  1. Sit or stand comfortably with your back straight. Reach upwards with your right hand.
  2. Now place the right hand behind you, aiming for the point between the shoulder blades.
  3. To increase this stretch push gently with the left hand on the right arm muscle.
  4. If you are very flexible, further increase the stretch by taking the left hand behind you and clasping the right hand.
  5. Repeat on the left side.

Notes

  • Caution: Before trying any movements or exercises on this site, please read the safety page
  • When increasing the stretch:
    • Push gently on the muscle, not the elbow
    • Make sure that you don't let your chin or head come forward and that you don't put any pressure on the back of the neck
  • This stretch can be done from a chair, on the floor or standing.
