Stretches

The Hips

1. For a gentle hip stretch, sit in the chair with you back straight 2.Point and flex your right foot
3.Move your foot across your front until you feel a stretch in your hip 4.Flex your foot until you feel the stretch
5.Raise your knees keeping your feet flat on the floor 6.Cross your left leg over your right knee and let it rest on your leg
7.Raise your knee further until you feel the stretch

Stretching the hips

  1. For a gentle hip stretch, sit in the chair with you back straight.
  2. With your left foot on the floor, lift your right leg in front.
  3. Point and flex your right foot.
  4. Move your right leg slightly across your front until you feel a stretch in the right hip. Repeat on the left side

  5. For a stronger stretch, sit on the floor and bend both knees.
  6. Keep the right foot flat on the floor. Bring the right knee up towards you.
  7. Now cross the left foot over the right leg and let it rest on the right leg. Repeat on the other side.

Notes

  • Make sure you don't rest the left ankle joint on the right leg. Rest the left leg so that the point of contact is just above the ankle joint.
  • You should feel the stretch all around the outside of the left hip.
  • If you can't feel the stretch, then bring the right leg up towards you until the stretch is felt.
